I teach in a rural area where everyone is involved in some sort of farm lifestyle. From 4-H , to FFA, to family farms, my students do it all. A challenge that I face is getting my students to understand the value of education and the importance of getting a good one. My students are tired of sitting in desks, going through the same routines, and feeling like they are not getting anything out of school. As a science teacher, I know I can change the way they feel by providing an education that not only fits what the State wants us to learn, but what they want to learn as well. Students learn best when two things happen. First, they need to be able to take what they have learned and apply it to their every day lives. Second, they need to be an active participant in their own learning. By donating to our classroom you will be the leading factor in helping students learn in a way they can respond to. Students will see a cow eye and be able to relate it to what they see every day outside of school. Students will dissect a cow eye and learn the parts and function of the eye while never even opening a textbook-that’s real world, hands on learning that will stay with them forever.
