The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will allow them to opportunity to complete several state physical education standards. These include just a few: 4th graders: 1.18 Manipulate an object by using a long-handled implement. 2.8 Explain the differences in manipulating an object when using a long-handled implement and when using a short-handled implement. 3.7 Sustain continuous movement for increasing periods of time while participating in moderate to vigorous physical activity. 5.4 Respond to winning and losing with dignity and respect. 5th graders: 2.1 Explain the importance of open space in playing sport-related games. 5.7 Accommodate individual differences in others’ physical abilities in small-group activities. 5.8 Appreciate physical games and activities reflecting diverse heritages. 6th grade: 1.4 Strike an object consistently, using an implement, so that the object travels in the intended direction at the desired height. 1.10 Combine motor skills to play a lead-up or modified game. 5.1 Participate productively in group physical activities. 5.2 Evaluate individual responsibility in group efforts. 5.3 Identify and define the role of each participant in a cooperative physical activity. 5.4 Identify and agree on a common goal when participating in a cooperative physical activity. 5.5 Analyze possible solutions to a movement problem in a cooperative physical activity and come to a consensus on the best solution.
