Sensory Sensation
Funded Sep 21, 2022Thank you for all the support you have shown my classroom. I wanted to start off by saying my students love everything. I love the how are you feeling slide, since we check in on how we are feeling at least once a day my nonverbal students can slide to show how they are feeling in that moment. Since we have used them for 4 months all students are now able to respond independently when asked how they are feeling and that is a HUGE accomplishment.
Many of my students were so excited when they saw the sensory sand they have played with it EVER DAY since it has been in the classroom. It is such a great hit and helps them all refocus in between academic demands. My goal is for them to be 100% independent when access the sensory corner with the other items that were purchased. Right now there is an adult that helps them access all items. However, I know with time they will be able to be independent.”

Funded Jun 20, 2019Thank you for donating to my class P.E. project. This school year, I have gotten a new student almost every month. As rough as that is when it comes to academics, P.E. brings all the students together. The students have been learning about the human body and were able to complete the human body muscle puzzle with minimal assistance, and now they can tell you where each major muscle is in your body. All of my students have Autism, and they love hands-on learning, so this puzzle is to thank for their academic success.
The next item that has been a hit in the classroom is the parachute. This 6-foot parachute is perfect for indoor use. All the students can participate and enjoy this fun time together. Their favorite part about the parachute is putting a ball in the middle and bouncing it up and down, not dropping it. (Working on teamwork)
The last item that was provided was the action cards. These cards are visual reminders of what move I am asking the students to do. For example, the "skin" card shows the student the movement of spin and can remind them.
Overall, the kit has been hit and made this school year run smoothly! Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wright
