  • iPads for Literacy

    I cannot thank you enough for your support in providing my kids with these IPads. In such a short amount of time it has drastically enhanced their learning experience. Although I can mention many ways it has helped, here is one story that is worth mentioning.

    One student came into second grade not knowing all their letter sounds. Needless to say, that student became very frustrated with the rigor of being in a new grade while also being a bit behind. With the IPad I was able to download an app that gives students the opportunity to practice letters and letter sounds at their own pace. With time each day my student practiced and practiced. I am happy to say that , with determination and hard-work, my student now knows ALL their letters and sounds. It took a short time and it was all thanks to their dedication and the utilization of the IPad that you helped

    provide.

    The IPads are used for reading, writing, as well as research. The students LOVE them and are excited to use them each day!

I am aiming to promote engagement in my classroom all year to encourage my students to be creative and apply their learning in different ways (not just filling out worksheets). Here is how we could use iPads in our classroom to promote student engagement: --educational apps:  Google Classroom, Kahoot, and Vooks! -Math practice using visuals, reading books online (some students learn better this way), and using them for more writing practice.   We currently have 6 computers in our room and they are our only form of student-accessible technology. These computers do not allow for collaboration and do not work well with all educational technology resources that can really help students. These iPads will be used each day in my classroom to promote learning and help students become excited about content. I would love to start using it as soon as possible and I would really appreciate your support in helping my students become lifelong learners by promoting engagement in the classroom!
