Help me give my students the necessary basic tools they need in order to succeed throughout the school year. The community that I currently am very fortunate to be teaching in is in Elmhurst. Majority of my children are from low income households however, they are never shortage of love, care, and support for very own children especially when it comes to school. However, during the Covid-19 outbreak, Elmhurst has become the epicenter. Many of the families began to struggle financially especially since majority of them have lost their jobs. These families have been struggling with providing meals for their children. Some of our children have already lost a love one, and are struggling to cope emotionally and mentally. Although my children are young, they are very aware of what is going on around them. Once the school year starts, these families will not be able to provide basic supplies for their children and with budget cuts effecting every public schools, it is uncertain for many schools whether school supplies will be provided for both teachers and students. I am hoping with your help; we can at least provide these families with the basic necessary supplies so they can focus more on their children emotionally at home. These supplies will make a difference not only for our children academically but for our communities as well, especially families who are financially struggling during the epidemic. From basic writing supplies, art supplies, and classroom materials, these supplies will all be used in the classroom to support each and every one of my students. These supplies will allow the families and children a peace of mind for them to no longer worry about how they can provide supplies for the students throughout the school year.
