Creating A Love of Reading Through Technology!

Thanks to your generous donation, my students have improved immensely with their reading skills. The students work extra hard on their class work in order to access the reading corners in our room. We have set up the small reading couch for individuals to read books or work on the iPads. The floor mats are used as extra seating and for paired/shared reading activities. The bands are stretched across their desks so they can alleviate energy by bouncing on them while working.

The students love to access their I-Ready and Wonders reading programs, as well as ABC Mouse on the iPads. They take turns with the devices which has also taught them social, sharing, and turn-taking skills. The students really strive to work harder so they can have extra time on devices. I have also found that by reading to each other they are teaching each other and learning from one another.

Because of your donations, the students' reading scores on their I-Ready program have shown improvement. Six percent of my students that were once performing two or more grade levels below have jumped up to only one grade level below. Sixteen percent of my students that were once performing at one grade level below have gone to working on or above their grade level.

I can't express my gratitude enough for what your donations have done for my class. Their class work and assessments have both improved. And because of these improvements, I have seen an overall growth in their self-esteem as well. Thank you again!”
