I look forward to seeing them play more games together, sitting together, and overall enjoying 5th grade. Thank you also for some fun things like dice and stickers. My students will enjoy having more incentives.”

Support for Engagement
Funded Mar 19, 2024I am so excited to see our project funded so quickly. Shout out to family members who donate every month and to the anonymous teacher donors who encourage teachers to submit projects (Like their own) and support one another. My students will be happy to have one more flexible seating choice and a few class engagement tools to use to further their learning.”

STEM Support and Problem Solving
Funded May 9, 2023I appreciate what you have given my classroom. It was different this year to see how many students don't know how to problem solve or work together. With these manipulatives, I hope to see kids play together and be engaged in creative problem solving. Thank you for giving us the chance to still be kids and play, while working together.”

Funded Aug 9, 2022The year is almost over, and WHEW!! the students have grown so much. Using the new bookshelf and bins I was able to make a more open library area for my students to visit. We also got a grant from the school to add more books. The students have been reading up a storm everyday and I would like to say thank you for helping create a space where they can flourish.
The SPOT books are awesome. They are a bit hard to read for just one student- but as a Social Emotional Lesson, they are a great way to bring up emotions and triggers without causing anyone to feel targeted. Students really enjoy the SPOT plushy that goes with the books.”

Funded Aug 10, 2022My students have grown so much this year.
This donation was all about making sure my students had the right materials for their needs. In the past years, headphones were a waste. We would get them for cheap online or buy them from the dollar tree- but this year I tried something different. I am happy to say that every single pair of the nicer headphones that we received from this are still in great condition. Not a single pair are broken or falling apart! My students are more likely to use them, to stay engaged in their lessons knowing that their stuff is worth a little more.
It has also given me a better chance at teaching them responsibility since we only have so many for them to use. Each pair is put into a personal cubby box with their student numbers on them.
Also, they are still obsessed with the whiteboards. We use whiteboards for everything! Spelling to shapes. Thank you for everything.”

Funded May 6, 2022There are so many reasons this season to be grateful. I have had my new books in my library from September to now and the engagement I get from my students is amazing. I am so happy to see that each of my students feels like they can find a book for them. Especially my kids who like both chapter books and comics- I was able to find some comic like books that are more complex. Also! I am loving the Pete the Cat series I have for some of my students who really are trying to read on their own and those books are simple enough for their level where they can really feel proud to be independent. I appreciate all those who have given. Thank you. Mrs. Jessica”

Funded May 5, 2022You should see the looks on my students faces! They are so excited to try to get fun prizes again. My prize box has all sorts of silly, noisy, and crazy things. One of the best prizes has been the little brain teaser ones. They are so fascinated by them.
Since this was near the end of our school year, I was so grateful that I was passing out prizes like crazy. My students have been working so hard all year long.
They also are obsessed with a giant container of markers. They had no idea that was even possible. They are able to keep the giant container so much better organized then their little boxes of them. They know it's the "teachers box of markers", so its easier for them to show responsibility with it.
I also used the gift card to buy some summer activities for my students. They got some coloring pages, some academic practice for over the summer, and some odds and ends.
Thank you so much for everything. I am beyond ecstatic to know that here at Donors Choose the community is so loving and strong.”

Let's Play!
Funded Dec 21, 2021I want to thank you for everything you have done for my class. Now I know board games, a few books, and a timer might seem so little but, man oh man the impact it has made on my students. To see the difference in their kindness, their words to each other, their actions. I will tell you that Covid was such a big impact on students not because they were missing the learning, but because they were missing the Social Emotional Growth that is typical for their ages.
This year started out really rough because students didn't know how to be in the same room with each other, still masked up, still social distancing. They acted like they've never stepped into a classroom before. It took me a while to realize it, but they didn't know what it meant to be friendly. One of the most basic skills ever. They didn't know manners and I had no ideas what tools to use. However, BOARD GAMES! Who knew that just playing with a game and a partner would teach kids so much. They learned to take turns, share, be creative, be a KID, have fun. They also learned loss, and how to be a good sport. They learned how to take care of something other than their own supplies. They learned that its okay to not be friends with everyone in the classroom but you do need to be friendly. It's going to take some time still, but I appreciated all the things that were donated to my room. Students are excited to learn again because I have made my class community stronger and we are a better learners because of it.”
