Loving Literacy
Funded Apr 15, 2025Thanks to your help, my students have a new and improved library experience! Every time a student walked into the library, they had the same reaction: "Wow!", "It looks so nice!", "I love the colors!", "It feels so cozy!" Their faces lit up as they explored their new space. Most students were most excited for the button maker! From the moment we set it up, students have asked to make buttons and suggested new designs. We even used it at our organization fair! (And it was a big hit!)
Our current school year is ending on a positive note because of the positive changes that occurred in our library. As we look forward to the next year, we are excited about the possibilities of our new space! With our new craft items, we can offer more activities throughout the school year, and our new button maker will continue to bring joy and excitement to the students. Now that the space is nicer, we can hold more student-oriented activities in the library, and everyone will feel welcome and comfortable! There is still more we can do, but these steps were necessary to move us forward in the right direction. Thank you so much for your donation. Please know that you have made a direct impact on students' lives!”

Funded Jan 7, 2023Project Graduation is a yearly event that takes place every year the night of graduation. This event is for our seniors so they have a safe and fun graduation night. The items that were purchased with your donations are prizes for the students that attend our Project Graduation. Items such as refrigerators and Chromecasts will help furnish students' dorms when they go away to college next year.
Thank you so much for all of your help! It may not seem huge, but your act of kindness will help make our Project Graduation a great night.”

Funded Jul 20, 2021Thank you so much for your donations. I am always looking for new tools to use in the classroom. Upfront magazine is a great resource. My students love the articles, and I love the teacher resources. Upfront is also a great way for my students to stay informed about current issues and events.
I love the digital version because I am able to share articles and assignments on google classroom. I am also able to change lexiles depending on the student's needs. I am very happy with this new resource and I wish I had gotten it sooner!”

Funded Jul 8, 2021Thank you so much for your donations. Reading Plus is exactly the tool I've been looking for! Reading Plus meets my students where they are. They are able to work on their reading level and increase their literacy skills. Some of my students need extra intervention and Reading Plus allows me to help my students by meeting their individual needs.
I love that students have the opportunity to use this program at home as well as in school. I absolutely can't wait to see how my students will improve.”

Funded Mar 31, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations. It is amazing how much your generosity has helped us. We now have our air filters and air purifier. We can all breathe a little easier now! We are still living in a pandemic and even though more and more people are getting the vaccine we are still nervous about getting sick. Even after the pandemic is over this air purifier will help us overcome cold and flu season too! With our new air purifier we can relax a little bit knowing that we will have clean air. You all have truly given us an amazing gift. Thank you again for your kindness!”

Funded Sep 4, 2020This has been a turbulent year for many issues and my students have been affected by this. It is important that my students have access to different points of view to understand the history and extent of the issues that are currently going on today.
These books will help my students develop empathy and learn more about the issues that are happening today. They will be able to connect past to present as well as understand different points of views in different genres.
Thank you so much for all of your help. We greatly appreciate it!”

Funded May 5, 2020Our library was in desperate need of some help. Now we have books that are current to contemporary topics, current events, and interests of our students.
Our students have the opportunity to read these books as part of our SSR time (or silent sustained reading). Students have the opportunity to read books for an extended amount of time in class. Students are often spread thin these days so finding time to read might be difficult. With SSR students have a dedicated space to read books they otherwise might not have known about. SSR promotes a reading habit which teens will carry with them throughout their lives. Students will gain a deeper knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure because they are being exposed to a variety of texts.
Thank you again.”

Funded Oct 14, 2019I've wanted Breakout Edu kits for my students for years now but they always seemed like a luxury that I couldn't afford. Thanks to you all my students can experience something really fun and something that will extend their thinking.
Our first day with the kits we did a Halloween themed experience. It was so great to see the students use their inductive and deductive reasoning skills. Watching them work together and then succeed was really inspiring.
I cannot wait to try more ideas with my students! Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity.”

Chromebooks for Education!
Funded Mar 8, 2019These Chromebooks have given a new LIFE to my classroom. These are some of the first things that my students said when they got their hands on these new computers: "Wow, these are so cool!", "They don't have any missing keys!", "I can't believe we logged in so fast!". It is so interesting to see the differences having updated technology can do for my students.
I'm not used to having no issues with technology. On our old laptops it would take more time to log in to a computer than actually working on the assignment. It was so bad that I wanted to avoid using technology because it just didn't seem worth it. Now, I cannot wait to use these all the time! My mind is absolutely a buzz with all of the possibilities.
You may not know this but technology in schools have gone beyond PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. My students use Google Classroom as our learning management system. Students make videos, infographics, brochures, digital essays, and so much more! Research also plays a vital role in a high school English class. Learning how to navigate the Internet and discern between credible, authoritative sources and biased information is a skill that will benefit my students for the rest of their lives.
Thanks to you many possibilities have been opened! Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to my students. You have done a wonderful thing for us and we will always be very grateful!”
