  • Help Prevent the Meltdowns!

    Thank you for funding our snowcone machine. This means so much to my students. They will truly enjoy their sweet icy treats during the school year. The snowcones will be used for more than just behavior. My students will also be included in making the syrup for the snowcones. Making the syrup includes several skills: reading directions, measuring, and using a thermometer.

    This classroom project was brought to life by Stavros Niarchos Foundation and 2 other donors.
Many of my students struggle with reading/following directions and with performing basic math operations. This project will encourage students' thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. It will also allow students the opportunity to use the knowledge they have and apply it by counting, measuring, following a sequence, and following directions. The circuit machine will also give them opportunities to them design logos, communicate appropriately with one another and enhance their self-confidence. Students will be given the opportunity to design t-shirts for themselves or family members, tote bags, posters for our school, make labels, design furniture and etc.
