We are request a set of The Hate U Give. These novels will make a major impact in helping my students learn, discuss, and think about the major issues they face on a daily basis. I see their stress and anxiety relating to race relations, stereotypes, and news related stories. Education used in a way to dispel ignorance and feed the curiosity of all students is our first and foremost goal in our classroom. I can't think of a better lesson than "doing right", even in the face of adversity, is of the utmost importance. My students want to know they will be acknowledged and rewarded for good behavior, which is not always the case and is a difficult lesson to learn. I want to step in, in this instance, to discuss this issue and more in a loving, safe environment.
