  • Continuing to Communicate!

    Funded Sep 17, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students have found these materials (the Chit Chat game, the conversation and emoji dice, the feelings characters and the buzzers) very engaging! They have enjoyed using them during our sessions.

These materials have really helped my students improve their conversational skills. They have used the dice and the communication game to practice their skills with expressing their opinions and asking peers questions! The feelings game and dice have helped my students learn to identify and describe their feelings. My students have really enjoyed using the buzzers with any activity!

Thank you again for your generous donation and for thinking of my students!”

  • Communicating at School and Home

    Funded Sep 18, 2020

Thank you very much for your generosity! It is so very appreciated. I am a school-based speech-language pathologist who services 75 students from preschool-aged to post-graduate with a range of communication difficulties. My school district has been remote for this school year and your generosity provided me with gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers where I was able to purchase digital resources to use for my speech/language sessions, as well as parent resources to send home to help parents increase communication at home.

My students have loved the interactive resources that I was able to purchase with these gift cards! They have helped make our remote speech and language sessions more fun and engaging for the students, while also helping them continue to grow their language skills. I was able to purchase interactive materials to help my students focus on improving their language and communication skills, such as: producing longer sentences, answering questions, following directions, engaging in conversations and improving their vocabulary!

I have also been able to purchase virtual field trips so we could work on our language skills while at the farm, zoo and apple picking! I was also able to purchase virtual field trips to places in the community so my older students can practice their functional language skills while pretending they are at the pharmacy, grocery store, mall, doctor's office, etc. In addition, I have been able to purchase resources to send home with families to help them work on communication skills during remote learning. Thank you for helping my students succeed!”

  • Communication Basics

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity! With your generous and thoughtful donations, I received many materials to help me organize communication binders and books for my speech/language students to use These materials included laminating sheets, binders, velcro and dry erase sheets.

Many of my students have limited verbal skills and require visuals to help them communicate their wants and needs, as well as comprehend language. I was able to laminate visuals and organize them into binders for my students to use during speech and language sessions and for them to use at home. These materials will help them be able to access their environment and participate in speech and language sessions, both in person and while learning remotely.

Thank you again for your generosity to my classroom!”

  • Learning Language Through All Senses

    Funded Aug 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations that helped to fund my project! With the funds from this project, I was able to obtain many hands-on resources for my students. These hands-on resources have kept my students engaged and have made them excited about learning language! These materials have been especially helpful for my youngest students. They were so excited to receive them.

These materials have helped my students grow their vocabulary and language abilities using hands-on and high-interest materials. We have been able to learn and acquire new vocabulary, expand our knowledge of words that go together and begin to use describing words. These resources have also helped my students begin to learn prepositions and to follow directions, as well as to sequence stories.

I have seen my students already make gains and have fun using these materials and I can't wait to engage in more learning language through all senses activities!”

  • Communicating in Color

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations that purchased our color printer for speech and language therapy! Many of my students have impacted verbal skills and we rely heavily on visuals for speech and language therapy. Having the color printer has enabled me to print all of these visuals in color instead of black and white. The color visuals are much more interesting and engaging to my students!

We have used this visuals for communication boards and communication books for some students. These color boards and books have enabled them to participate more in academic and social situations. They have been able to use these visuals to make requests, state their opinions and knowledge, as well as interact with peers.

We have also used these visuals to help my students acquire and use new vocabulary, follow directions and increase their verbal abilities by providing them with visual cues. We have also been able to use color visuals to help students manage behavior and stay on task during therapy sessions. The color printer has been a wonderful and much appreciated addition to our speech/language room!”

Students with language and communication difficulties rely on visuals to make connections with the words they are hearing. Visual supports help students be able to use those words to communicate their knowledge, opinions and needs and to be an active member of the community. Black and white images are hard for students to make connections with and attend to. Providing my students visuals in color will help them acquire and use language with more success and independence. Having access to a color printer and extra ink cartridges in my therapy room will allow easy access for the students to be able to see and use language-based visuals. They will be able to use these images to improve their language and communication skills. These color images will help my students to ask questions, participate in conversations and share their ideas.
