Hopping into a Happy Recess
Funded Jul 6, 2021Recess is an integral part of the students day. It is an important time in which students can get a break from the classroom, interact with their peers, and burn off some pent up energy. That being said, an unstructured recess leads to negative peer interactions and "kid drama".
With the help of the items in this project, we have been able to designate areas for different activities to provide structure for our students. Within this structure, students are able to practice interacting with peers, engage in friendly competition, and experience the enjoyment of trying new games and activities.”

SEL Counseling Group Materials
Funded Feb 19, 2021This year has been different than any other school year we've had. The students are feeling the strains of being back in the school setting while trying to navigate their stress and anxiety as it pertains to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of my students have experienced the loss of close loved ones, their normal daily routine has drastically changed, and on top of all that they have to make up for learning missed due to school closures and virtual learning difficulties.
Through the use of our SEL Group Materials, the students have been able to express their emotions in a safe space. Using these materials gives them an opportunity to process what they are feeling, learn positive coping skills, and develop deeper connections with their peers based upon shared experiences.”

Sensory Break Opportunities!
Funded Apr 25, 2020So far my students have enjoyed the Sensory Paths and Chair Bands that we've received! With the frog hop portion of the sensory path, students walked into my office and immediately noticed it; their curiosity piqued right away and they wanted me to show them what these weird stickers were all about. It was almost as if whatever was in their mind instantly took a backseat. Even their facial expressions and body language changed. Students have challenged me to see if they can frog hop higher and farther than me.
The bouncy chair bands have also been a huge hit. One student with ADHD has shown a drastic change in his behavior. He is a very bright student but has an extremely hard time sitting still. I've walked by his class and seen him bouncing his feet away happily while still staying in his seat and completing his classwork. I asked another student to show me how to use them. He explained "this is what I do all day" as he got into his chair, and bounced his feet while listening to his teacher. In fact, the bands were such a hit with teachers and students that the principal ordered full sets for both the 1st and 2nd grade classrooms.
We sincerely appreciate all of your donations and support.”
