  • Student Voice; Through Photography

    Funded Dec 7, 2019

I am so grateful for your donations and so excited to bring photography to my students! Thank you! I can’t wait to teach them some basic photography and watch them document their worlds. I’ll be sure to share the images they create. I appreciate your support so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Makerspace in the Art Room

    Funded Mar 4, 2019

The new makerspace has been such a great addition to the art room. Students are working together, building new things and using the STEM kits to act as scientist and engineers.

When the makerspace first started to take form students were asking lots of questions and were really excited to use the space. When everything was set up, early finishers started using the makerspace; the excitement of what they created lit up their faces.

As we are wrapping up the year the makerspace is going to be a great location for students and I am really looking forward to getting it in full swing next year. Because the makerspace has been so popular many teachers are allowing students to earn breaks to come into the art room and use the space with a timer. It is definitely a motivator for many students to work hard and earn a reward.

Thank you again for your donation, other teachers are looking to add a makerspace in their classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

My art room is a place where I encourage students to take risks, to try their best and be proud of their creations! The materials in this project will give students tools and experiences to become builders, engineers, critical thinkers, collaborators, and problem solvers. Students create a different paces in the art room and the materials in this makerspace will give early finishers a place to continue creating, building and exploring. These materials will also offer a space for students with special education needs as well as social and emotional needs. These materials will allow them learning in the art room even when a project is more difficult for them or they are having a hard day. Our school has a full inclusion model and the makerspace will allow me to be more inclusive during the 40 minute blocks I get to see each class during the week.
