  • Put Books in Their Hands!

    Funded Oct 4, 2024

This project has made a significant difference in our classroom by providing my students with access to high-interest, engaging books that ignite their love for reading. These texts are more than just stories—they are tools for building critical reading skills like comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary acquisition. With these new books, we've been able to introduce lessons on inferencing, character analysis, and text-to-self connections, which allow students to engage with the material in deeper, more meaningful ways.

In our classrooms, reading has become an interactive and exciting experience. Students regularly participate in read-alouds, shared reading, and independent reading sessions, where they are encouraged to make predictions, ask questions, and connect what they're reading to their own lives. The addition of these new books has also enabled us to explore diverse themes and perspectives, broadening their understanding of the world.

One student, in particular, who initially struggled with reading, has taken a special interest in a graphic novel series we received. He's more motivated than ever to practice his reading, often asking to borrow the books to take home. Watching him and other students light up when they find a book that speaks to them has been truly rewarding, and it's a clear indication of the positive impact this project has had on our classroom. The enthusiasm for reading is growing, and it's largely thanks to the generosity of you, our donors! Thank you SO much!”

  • Literacy for All!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible support in funding our project. Thanks to your generosity, our students have been able to access essential resources that are making a profound difference in their learning journey. The tablet you provided has become a vital tool for our struggling readers, offering them engaging digital blending practice that helps build their confidence and skills. The hands-on manipulatives have also been instrumental in developing their phonological awareness, providing a tactile and interactive way to grasp foundational literacy concepts.

The science of reading-aligned materials we've acquired through Teachers Pay Teachers have further enriched our instruction, ensuring that we are using the most effective, research-based approaches. These resources have not only helped individual students but have also created a ripple effect throughout our community, as students gain the literacy skills they need to thrive. Your contributions have truly empowered our learners, and we are already seeing the positive impact on their academic growth and overall enthusiasm for reading.

Once again, thank you for believing in our students and investing in their future. Your generosity has made a lasting difference, and we are immensely grateful for your support.”

  • Creativity and Collaboration

    Funded Nov 1, 2019

Thank you so much for your investment in the creativity that happened in our classroom this year. Because of your generosity every student in my class had full access to a wide variety of art supplies and tools for creativity. We were able to use these tools to process big feelings and articulate our emotions even when language was a barrier. We also learned so many skills that will help us be well-rounded, empathetic members of society! The time we spent creating together this year will have a life long impact on our mental and emotional health, our capacity for coping, and our ability to adapt and problem solve. We are all so grateful for your investment in us, our classroom, and the future of our community. Thank you so very much.”

    With gratitude,

  • STEM Choices for 2nd Grade

    Funded Sep 4, 2019

The fruits of this project were truly immediate. The moment these packages arrived and we started opening them I began to see the impact these tools would have on our classroom. I have several students who are very interested in building, designing, and engineering. They enjoy using digital programs but they are still seven years old and therefore, always seem to have a concrete connection with more hands on learning styles.

I have a few high achieving students in particular who have challenged themselves to build every single item in the builder's manual that came with the connecting bricks. These are not Legos. They are not tools these kids have ever encountered before. The first day they tried they felt so defeated because of how much more challenging these bricks were to work with. However, in the pictures you can see this group of students proudly holding up the robot they successfully built after working together for two days.

We are learning how to work as a team, to work creatively, to work independently, and to problem solve. We are learning to push through challenges and to come up with more creative solutions to our problems. The best part is, we think we are playing!!! Thank you so much for giving us the gift of resources and tools to be successful and creative students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Melton

These STEM items will be the catalyst I need to launch educational careers built on investigation, exploration, and creativity! I hope to expose my students to several opportunities to see themselves as problem solvers, creative thinkers, and engineers. I hope they will leave my classroom feeling confident in their ability to build, create, and problem solve! I also hope that these tools will create opportunities for students to engage in social emotional learning through the inevitable challenges of teamwork and collaboration in the face of hands on challenges. There are several students in my room with IEP's, PTSD, and other disadvantages. Our campus has limited access to extra tools for sciences and arts. These supplies will give all of my students access to learning and exploring STEM skills.
