My students teach me something every day and never fail to amaze me with their tenacity. Each child has various interest and abilities. They are a fun bunch that craves sensory input throughout the school day. They are each inquisitive and enjoy tactile activities. My students struggle to complete independent tasks. Task boxes will assist in promoting independence with each student. I will be able to create a variety of task boxes that address their individual goals and objectives. Task boxes are rotated and checked daily to check for accuracy and build upon individual goals outlined in a child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). These task boxes can be used in centers and as activities to supplement curriculum materials. All of these items will be used in creating task boxes and work bins for my students to promote independent learning and fulfilling their sensory needs. Task boxes will be used to increase skills in the areas of language arts, math, social studies, and science. Specific learning outcomes include phonemic awareness, phonics, sequencing, color and shape recognition, one-to-one correspondence, counting, and increased independence. As a special educator, we often have to create most tasks for our students as they all have various needs and don't fit within many packaged curriculums. The task bins will also involve creating fine motor activities for students with fine motor deficits. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our classroom goals. These kids will benefit greatly from your generosity! You will be unlocking potential learning power. Each child has the right to access new and meaningful knowledge via appropriate supports which begins with any help that can be given!
