  • Reading is Awesome with Graphic Novels

    Funded Nov 26, 2021

My students have loved reading and looking at the graphic novels you so generously supplied for them. In the short time we have had the books two students have completed the eight book Amulet series. Each commented that they haven't read eight books in the last couple of years, never mind the course of a few months.

Most of my students' reading skills are two or more levels below grade level. The graphic novels have provided them the ability to enjoy reading stories of their middle school aged interests instead of "little kid" books. Because they are able to read books about topics of interest, they are more likely to grab a book to read than to wander around the room being disruptive.

Another plus to the graphic novels they students have enjoyed is that they can read the entire story in a matter of a week or less instead of it taking "forever." More than one student has commented that one reason they don't like to read is that it takes too long to get through a book and they forget what is has happened in the story. With the graphic novels this doesn't happen to them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Schneider

  • Fuel the Body, Fuel the Mind

    Funded Oct 26, 2019

Thank you all so much for your generous help. Many of my students are from low income families and do not always have the nutrition they need to focus on their work. Your donations will supply my students with the needed snacks and fuel for them to get through their day.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Schneider

  • This Is Not a Prison

    Funded Jun 5, 2019

Thank you so very much for helping me provide these things for my students. I know they will be grateful in the fall to see the great items you have provided for them. With the chairs and inspirational posters, my room will feel more homier and less like a prison.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Schneider

As a new teacher, I came to an empty classroom and was given the routine hard chairs and boring decor. I have tried to make the room more inviting but it is not very encouraging in their learning and productivity. The chairs will help students focus more on what they are learning, rather than on how hard and awful the chairs are. Students will find anything other than the lesson to think about and focus on. Good chairs helps to eliminate one problem. The diffuser and oils are a good natural way to help bring good vibes to the room. Peppermint aids in stimulating the brain and senses allowing for information to reach them. The posters are to help encourage them in life. Many of my students come from tough situations. They may not want to listen to the words of inspiration, but if they can read and absorb them on a regular basis, maybe they will come to believe it. Students often refer to school as prison. I would like to make my room a little less prison and more encouraging.
