  • Connect the Dots Box

    Thanks to your generosity, the supplies donated to our classroom helped curve the impact of distance learning.Serving students and families with moderate/severe disabilities in a pandemic afflicted school year meant that many parents were unable to travel within the community.

    The supplies were hand delivered to each individual home. During our unboxing activity, students were eager to pull all the new supplies out of their handy supply caddy. The parents were also joyful in watching their child unbox their supplies.

    With the materials we were able to build math manipulatives such as ten-frames and numberlines that were customized for each student's individual needs. The color washi tape made them high-contrast and accessible and easy to use. We also created art that we uploaded onto our online art gallery. We are so grateful that we created these experiences for our students with your help.”

    Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom! Having a color printer in class has proven to be a game changer in student engagement

    Our students experience challenges in interacting with their environment and engage more with hands on activities. Having a color printer allows me to print colorful material to enhance their communication devices, enrich the classroom with colorful print-rich visuals, and engaging matching and sorting activities that can be used over and over to support learning and practice skills. Students with disabilities thrive when teachers help them access material through multi-modal learning. Visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning is enhanced when materials are in color. Providing visual supports in a print-rich environment is more effective when materials are provided in color. Our alternate curriculum is full of visual supports for our students to derive meaning from every word in every sentence. Having color copies makes a huge impact in usability of these resources. Color copies of supplemental teacher-created materials, such as matching activities, real-life picture supports for graphs and charts, and graphics to enhance hand-over-hand activities or communication devices, will support student understanding. We need a printer to help make this possible.
