I aim to provide a fair and equal opportunity for disadvantaged students to access high-quality education, and to attain proficiency level on state achievement tests. By providing students with materials they can both read and comprehend, they will gain confidence to explore larger and more complex texts. I hope to encourage their love of reading, by helping them to explore content that is relevant to them and the world they are living in. I think it is discussed best on Scholastic.com website ““Short texts” are a classroom staple for shared reading and strategy lessons. But all too often, we need to turn to reading anthologies, “close read” workbooks, or test prep materials to find pared down texts. Magazine articles are perfect authentic texts for mini-lessons and evidence-based discussions.”
