  • Consumables for the Art Room

    Funded Apr 30, 2023

Thank you so much for providing our art classes with consumables to finish out the past school year with. We often run out of certain colors or materials mid year so it was fantastic to have some fresh back up materials ready to go. It really helped us since our biggest art show happens to be in the late spring right before summer break. We are now able to still have some to start off the new school year with which is a big help in the first few weeks. We really appreciate your kindness and generosity. Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romeo

  • Painting Projects!

    Funded Jan 1, 2023

Thank you so very much for providing my students with painting supplies this year! Fifth grade students created beautiful "Blue Dogs" inspired by Cajun artist George Rodrigue. Third grade students were able to add beautiful accents to their mixed media pieces as well! We had a beautiful and colorful art show this spring that was made possible by your support and generous donations. Thank you so much for your support and generosity. It has really made an impact on my students' quality of work! Thanks again!”

  • Wonderful Weavings

    Funded Mar 6, 2023

Thank you so much for providing us with colorful yarn for weaving. Students learned about Dorothy Liebes for women's History month and learned about designing textiles. They loved working with their hands to create these colorful weavings. I was able to display their work at our public library for an event for women's History last weekend and the community loved the work as well. Students are very proud of their work and are interested in continuing to learn different weaving techniques in the future.”

  • Super Cool Spider Sculptures!

    Funded Mar 4, 2023

Thank you so much for donating black Model Magic and sculpture wire for us to create these super cool spider sculptures with. Students loved manipulating the wire to create an armature and wrapping the clay around the legs. They were very interested in seeing Louise Bourgeois' sculptures that we used as inspiration. We learned about arachnids and their body parts while sculpting as well. Overall this was a wonderful project and we thank you very much for your support and generosity. Thanks again!”

  • Resources for the Art Teacher

    Funded Feb 28, 2023

Thank you so much for providing me with these professional development resources. I am learning a lot of practices that I can incorporate into my lessons and classroom procedures to help my art classes run more smoothly. I have already started to use some of the techniques to encourage choice and engagement. My favorite so far is "Studio Thinking From the Start." It reinforces how I teach and helps me to better my craft and make adjustments where necessary. Thank you again to everyone who donated towards this Professional development project.”

  • Brushing Up in 2023

    Funded Jan 1, 2023

Thank you so much for providing us with new paint brushes. This brand is the best quality and really stands the test of time. They will help students make nice clean lines with paint for years to come. The gripped handles are a plus and the soft bristles make these really nice for painting with. My students are so thankful to have these new brushes for our painting projects. We already used them for a Van Gogh inspired "snowy night." We look forward to using them again and again. We really appreciate your generosity.”

  • Digital Art in the New Year!

    Funded Dec 21, 2022

Thank you so much for providing us with ink for our inkjet printer in the art room. Every February our school celebrates Black History Month and one of my favorite projects to do with my students is a digital self portrait inspired by Kehinde Wiley's paintings. Students create colorful, patterned backgrounds on an app called sketchpad and then layer their photos on top. Artwork is displayed digitally but I wanted to print for our art show display next month and also so the students could take their art work home after.”

  • Let's Sharpen Our Skills!

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

Thank you SO MUCH for the new pencils and sharpeners! What a relief it is to have nice quality working sharpeners that stay secure to the table when sharpening. Our old sharpener was a hand me down from the previous art teacher and it did well until it stopped working a few weeks ago. The other ones our school had available were not up to standard for an art room and the motor would need time to cool down between sharpening. We also appreciate the nice new pencils as ours were getting kind of small and most were without erasers. Thank you for providing these vital materials and tools for our art room!”

  • Colorful Caddies

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to supply us with color coded caddies for our classroom organization. It has made distributing and collecting art materials so much more streamlined.

Each table gets a color and they know which materials they can use depending on what is in the caddies.

Cleanup is a breeze with these colorful bins and my students take pride in how organized they can leave their tables now that they are color coded. Thank you again for your generosity and helping fund this project for us.”

  • Building a Better 2023!

    Funded Jan 1, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards our Lego stations. Our art classes just recently finished wire sculptures so it was awesome to add a Lego station to the cubbies where we keep activities for early finishers so they could keep on building.

Today when one of my classes finished painting their sculptures they asked what they could do next. I told them to look on the cubbies and the were surprised and excited to see legos had been added to the activities for early finishers.

All of my students in that class got a chance to share the two stations of legos today and build some fun stuff.

Thanks again for donating the legos to become a permanent part of our classroom activities.”

I surveyed my classes during the first week of school to see what types of materials they would like to use and what projects they would like to create. Creating three dimensional sculptures from clay was the top answer and almost every student voted for clay as the material they'd like to use most this year. Many of them have not created a sculpture that they could dry, finish and keep. Your donation would allow my students access to a material they have not yet worked with and provide them with an opportunity to learn to create with a new medium.
