Document Camera for Special Ed Instruction
Funded Jun 25, 2012Though long overdue, I still wanted to write you a little note to express my sincere gratitude for your generosity. Your genuine willingness to give to those you don't even know, expecting nothing in return...it is inspiring, and the same spirit I am trying to pass on to my 6th grade kiddos. I so appreciate your help in bringing about change in education. People like you will be the reason children in America grow up to be educated, well-rounded, gracious, and generous leaders that our world so desperately needs.
Please accept our deep appreciation for the document camera that allows them to easily take notes at their own pace in their reading class. It has been a tool that has engaged them and kept them focused.
At our school, we place a huge emphasis on getting to and graduating from college. Our students know that college is the ultimate goal...thank you for bringing them one step closer to the university or college of their choice. Thank you for helping my students and I build a better tomorrow.”

Restless to Relentless (with Some Wiggle Room)!
Funded Dec 9, 2011I wanted to write you a small note to express a HUGE amount of gratitude to each of you for so selflessly offering to the precious children in this world that you do not know. I publicly marvel at your generosity with my class. I often say, "Isn't it so amazing that someone you don't even know would share those with you?" Even at the middle school age, they too are awestruck by your kindness and compassion.
I work with the most precious kids in the building. They have the greatest needs, and are at the greatest risk. They have trouble concentrating, staying seated, even trouble controlling their anger, their laughter, and their tears. Transparently speaking, I thought they would like the cushions, but there's no way I could have predicted just how much they love these air-filled bouncy bottoms! They're mildly obsessed with them. They sit on them and bounce while we're sounding out words, or stand on them and bounce. Or they'll use it as a rest for their back or feet, or they'll just hug it as we read. I haven't seen MJ sit in a seat for longer than 14 minutes the whole year, and now he sits and bounces through the whole class.
I usually have a "story of the week" that I like to share with whoever will listen. Some make me laugh, some make me cry. This week's story is about one of our highest need students, I'll call him "D". After being jumped on his walk home from school, he immediately came back to to school to find us. After filing a police report, icing his head, and letting the police look at his torn pants, D was calling my cell less than two hours later, to tell me about the book he was reading, and in turn achieve "Caller Baller" status for next week. A powerful testament to the dedication of our students, and a simple reminder of why I'm so blessed to do this work with them every day. They're making me a better teacher and a better person. Every day.
Thank you so much for your contribution to the future leaders of our city, country and world (leaders we so desperately need!) Thank you for your compassion you offered so humbly and graciously, and for setting that example for my KIPPsters. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Stonecash

My students have written you notes to convey their many thanks, and I am looking to have them sent to you. However, I fear that since you did not request a note, it will not give me an address for you. If I fail to find your address, please accept our deep appreciation for the dry-erase boards that make practicing math more engaging for them. It has engaged them and kept them focused. Thank you for helping my students and I build a better tomorrow.”

Only Time Will Tell...
Funded Oct 20, 2010How can I begin to thank you for your generosity? Your donation has not only helped my students learn the importance of time, but also how time impacts every thing we do in a day! Now they can begin to understand the importance of time management as they grow into young adults!
I also want to thank you for the TIME FOR KIDS magazine. The weekly magazine literally brings the world into our classroom. They love learning about far off places and distant, unique cultures.
I am using both the clocks and the magazines in my intervention classes for students with special needs. Thank you for taking them one step closer to college graduation! The world truly is a better place because of people like you.
With much gratitude,
Ms. S ”
