These school supplies will be used by my students daily as they work independently and collaboratively to grasp and to demonstrate new math and science concepts. The students use their science/math journals as interactive notebooks as they investigate, inquire, make sketches, collect data and record their findings. One activity that integrates our science and math curriculum is part of our weather unit. The students use weather instruments to measure temperature, air pressure, precipitation and wind speed. They also record and draw their weather observations including cloud cover. The weather data collected is recorded on their daily observations chart and at the end of the week the students use this information to compare and contrast each days weather data. The students also record predictions for next week's forecast based on the weather data collected.
It is a struggle for my families to be able to purchase the basic school supplies that their children need. My students should not be concerned or embarrassed that they do not have a pencil or notebook paper to complete assignments. As a school, we also have limited resources to buy all the necessary classroom supplies that our students will need for the school year.
Please help fund our classroom project so that my students will have the basics that they need to be a successful student!
