To help me guide my students in gaining knowledge about big concept ideas, I will utilize the "Ramped-Up Read Aloud" book that will guide this instruction and allow me to be the best instructor I can be. The books will be located within our classroom library so students can check out the ones they love and take them home to share with their families. Not only will this help with big concept understanding, it will also pass along the love of reading to families, and help families at home also discuss these big concepts. How do we help a child understand big ideas like empathy, compassion, and understanding? The books on this list will allow my first graders to begin processing these big ideas in an age-appropriate way and their families will benefit at home as well.
