There are not enough words to express my joy, gratitude, and thanks for your generous donations to my class project. My students and I are so appreciative of your support for education. We are looking forward to receiving these materials as they will be a great tool as we continue to grow and learn in the classroom. We can't wait to share some pictures of us! Thank you again!”

  • Yellow There! Orange You Glad There's More to Be Red?

    Funded Nov 17, 2021

I can’t express how grateful I am for your generous donations and thoughtfulness. I am excited to share the news of receiving new books to expand our classroom library with my students; they are going to be ecstatic. Watching them read and engage with these new texts is going to be so fulfilling. Thank you all so much for your kindness and for providing my student’s with the tools necessary to keep learning and growing.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Giarrizzo

  • What Summer Reading Slide?

    Funded Jun 2, 2020

Within reading the texts, students were able to extend all their learning they did this year. In the nonfiction text, students were able to add onto their knowledge about animal adaptations. Additionally, students were able to explore new animals; ones which we did not learn about this year. In the fiction text, students were able to continue to complete character analysis. They were able to identify how the characters changed from the beginning of the story to the end.

In our classroom and school, we complete a lot of shared reading activities. During the summer, the students were able to indulge in these books independently. They were able to facilitate their own exploration and comprehension of the text. This was a great experience for these students, especially during such a hard time in their lives.

Students enjoyed being able to have a physical book in front of them during this summer, and they have you to thank. This may be a gift which students never forget. Thank you for your generosity, we all appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Giarrizzo

Please help my co-teacher and I give our students learning materials for their summer reading! We currently have 31 students in our 3rd-grade class. We teach in a low-income area and are unsure of the abundance of reading books the students have access to at home. We are unsure if students will be able to even access their local library over the summer, which is where most of them go to find their summer reads. Every year we notice the majority of students experience a "summer slide" in their reading abilities. In order to ensure the students are still reading grade-level material, my co-teacher and I would love to provide students with at least two texts. We will ensure the students have at least one fiction and one non-fiction text. We plan on providing the students with a read-along as well, to support their decoding and comprehension. Please consider donating, our students are so deserving of these books. The books will be mailed directly to our student's homes, along with a summer letter and list of additional books they can read (if they have access). Thank you so much for your consideration!
