Cloisonne Enameling: One of the oldest enameling techniques. Cloisonne is from the French word (cloison) for "cell" or "partition." A technique in which metal wires are bent to form a design; different colored enamel or ground glass is then placed into the cell or cloisons. The piece is fired in a kiln. Through the arts, we are able to not only connect with different artists and types of artwork, but we are also able to incorporate a global art history. A hands-on classroom with various stations supports kinesthetic learning. Evaluation skills are developed through a peer evaluative rubric. This encourages all students to succeed. When a project has been turned in to the teacher, it has already been evaluated by a fellow student giving the student an opportunity to work on areas of their project before turning it in for a grade. The students all feel an opportunity to achieve is never out of reach because they are an essential part of the process. Creating artwork assists skills in literacy that also contributes to students ability to comprehend lessons. Students develop critical thinking skills, decision making, endurance, and task completion when designing and creating artwork. The retelling of events during a presentation critique supports literacy components. Presentations skills are supported through GOOGLE Classroom. A presentation card is completed by students. The use of the SMART board supports presentations.
