Husky Helping Hands Hideout
Funded Mar 6, 2024We had no idea the impact that this project would have for our school students and families. We knew there was a need, but until we had it up and running did we realize the importance of having a safe space and process to support all students and their needs. Students have thanked up repeatedly for providing them with everyday items that they may have forgot at home or can't afford. We have provided dress clothes for students for their music concerts and their reaction to how great they looked and felt was very emotional. We couldn't have gotten this project up and started without the help from donations! It takes a village and we have a great village supporting us and the students. We continue to have donations come in for supplies for students and students continue to spread the word and feel supported and safe to communicate their needs. When the students come into the "closet" they can't believe the amount of items we have available and that they get to pick and keep said items. We are always met with a thank you!”

Help Students De-Stress the Stress!
Funded Nov 22, 2019Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and office setting for all students in my school. Each day when the students enter the classroom, they are able to get one of the fidget liquid containers and have at their tables to support them when talking about heavy topics in Character class. Sometimes when we are talking about stress or fear, the students have especially played with the fidgets to support their feelings and body communication of being in an uncomfortable moment. This has helped them work through and be able to communicate their thoughts and feelings in a more supported manner.
I recently had a student that was struggling with a death in their family and he was able to use the painting easel to help take his mind off of recent events and stressors. At first they were unsure about using the water painting materials, but found that it was nice and relaxing to paint and be creative rather then focusing on their recent loss.
The students were all so excited for the new materials and are doing a great job of respecting those using them as well as maintaining their longevity and keeping them in good shape.
Our future plans include the continued incorporation of the fidget materials and supports to assist all students when struggling to find words or make good choices as they battle through life's everyday struggles.”

Funded Feb 13, 2019This project has helped enormously with building strong relationships between students and staff. By using the various books as tools to incorporate into classtime as well as relationships, the students are learning more about themselves, their personal well-being and how to be more respectful to others around them. We are faced with everyday stressors that young people are dealing with in Middle School and by having tools to support their learning, engage their interests, and guide their decision-making skills, these students will in turn find greater success both internally and externally.
The use of stress relievers support the students when things may be stressful, angered or just not in a healthy headset. Allowing students to find positive alternative ways to work through their thoughts and feelings help create a more positive student, environment and success.
Many students utilize the stress relievers through an as needed basis but others have utilized the tools throughout the day to support their fidgets and relieve their thoughts leading to potential negative outcomes. The students have learned that these tools are accessible to them whenever they need them and have learned the appropriate communciation skills to let adults know when they need to utilize the stress toys. Based on the student population that has a higher rate of lower income, everyday stressors can be daunting at times. These students have been given another opportunity to see light at the end of their tunnel helping them to find success on their journey through life.
Through the help of the stress relievers and curriculum, students will be given greater opportunities to succeed and feel better about themselves.”
