  • Second Grade Scientists

    Funded Feb 6, 2023

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your support of my Donors Choose project to obtain materials for our science experiments in my second grade classroom. Thanks to your generous contributions, my students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and deepen their understanding of water and erosion.

Your donations have made a significant impact on our classroom, and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. With the materials that you helped me purchase, my students will be able to conduct multiple experiments in order to learn about the world around them in a way that would not have been possible without your support.

Once again, I extend my deepest thanks to all of you for your kindness and generosity. Your contributions have truly made a difference in the lives of my students, and for that, we are forever grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Goldstick

  • Chapter Books for Growing Readers

    Funded Oct 12, 2022

Thank you so much for the incredible additions to our classroom library. Our students were beyond excited upon receiving all the new books and could not wait to dive into them!

In my second-grade classroom, I am pushing my students to think deeply about the texts they are reading. Students are being challenged to think about things like lessons and themes in their books and what is motivating their characters, and are then tasked to back their ideas up with evidence. Many of these skills require higher level texts, which now we have!

Additionally, many of these books will go towards helping us with our upcoming reading unit, which is all about reading series books in book clubs. It can be difficult to acquire multiple copies of books, and your donation has helped me add books to our series book clubs. The students in this class, and students in my class for years to come, will all benefit from your generosity.

    Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Goldstick

  • iPads Needed to Support Second Grade Learning!

    Funded Aug 17, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The iPads you helped us purchase benefit every student in our classroom, and the students love them!

There are so many ways we utilize the iPads in our classroom every single day. In writing, students who would normally have difficulty writing a story because they struggle with spelling are now able to draft intricate narratives because the Google Docs app on the iPad allows them to voice type. Additionally, these students use an app called Endless Reader. Endless Reader teaches sight words to struggling readers and writers. There are also apps that read books aloud to students and highlight the words, so students are constantly engaged in reading. Finally, there are also math apps that allow students to manipulate base 10 blocks or play math games. There are so many other ways we use the iPads in our classroom, and so many more ways we can use them. The possibilities are endless!

    Thank you for helping us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Goldstick

We have requested iPads in order to help support my students in all areas of the curriculum, especially writing. Many students, especially those with special needs, benefit from the use of technology. We would love to be able to bring iPads into our classroom so our students can better express themselves through writing. Often times, our students have incredible ideas but struggle to get them down on paper. Having access to iPads in the classroom will allow our students to be able to get their ideas onto paper, allowing them to share their writing with their peers and feel successful! We will also be able to use the iPads in reading by downloading apps that have interactive books that may be read aloud to the students. The websites and apps we choose will be used to supplement the content in which we are teaching, and will help our students stay motivated in all areas of the curriculum.
