Fifth grade math can be extremely challenging especially when students have not yet mastered their math facts! I remember having to practice flash cards over and over as an elementary student and I hated having to memorize cards. I love the Power Pens with math quiz cards because it is a new, exciting and different way for students to master their multiplication facts! They get instant feedback from the pen and can feel successful while also having fun. If students do not have fun, they do not learn, so making math meaningful, interactive, and fun is the key to success and concept mastery for students! When they are able to play interactive games that help them visualize and create what they are learning, they cannot be stopped! When students groan about having to STOP doing math, I know we are doing something right! The math folder games will give my students so many fun options to practice what they have learned with a partner or in a small group.
