  • Giving Back

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you for funding "Giving Back". This project allowed my students to create a natural body scrub and lip balm for teen age parents in the neighborhood. The students added the ingredients to the mixer and pressed the button.

We were able to incorporate educational lessons into this project as well. We talked about loud and quiet sounds and also used our other senses.

The students then package the scrub and lip balms and passed then out to some very surprised and grateful teen parents. They were very happy that we took time to acknowledge and appreciate them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Karen

  • Skin Tone Crayons and Coloring Books

    Funded Oct 18, 2024

Representation matters in all aspects of a child's life. Thank you for supporting this project and the importance that this project, brought to my young scholars. Coloring is such an important part of a child's life. It not only helps with our fine motor development, it helps with creativity and cognitive thinking.

Having coloring books that have African American children depicted as SUPER HEROS is a game changer. Thank You for supporting a project that not only sparks creativity, but also a sense of self worth. This project was a huge hit with our families.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts”

  • Warm Clothing

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

This project has a special place in our hearts. Often time families can't afford extra clothing or clean clothing. Being able to provide my students with extra clean clothes, shoes and coats when needed is an AMAZING feeling.

Today alone, we had to replace a coat because the student out grew her old one. We changed out two students short sleeve shirts for long sleeve shirts, due to the change in temperature.

We sometimes take the small stuff for grant like families being able to provide the basic needs for the children. My class is very fortunate that kind donors such as yourselves are a part of our lives.

Thank You from the bottom of our hearts”

SCIENCE is AWESOME and so are you for helping to fund this project. Hands on science activities are so much fun on all grade levels. Our goal is to introduce science experiments in our classroom that can be completed at home with little to no cost to our families. THANK YOU SO MUCH”

  • The Pictures in the Book Look Like Me

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you for allowing me to provide copies of Bros, Mary had a Little Glam, and Every little Thing to my students. I came across these books at my local library and thought they would be a fun read. Little did I know they would turn out to be classroom favorites.

I'm extremely happy that this project was funded because these books not only showcase beautiful art work of African American children, they also have positive messages about friendship and believing in yourself.

Thank you again for supporting this project and for knowing the importance of owning books that have imagines that look like our students.”

  • Olympic Field Day

    Funded May 10, 2024

Thank you from our future Olympic champions. Our students had a blast jumping over our pool noodle hurdles, making custom flags and bracelets. Along with playing tennis/ pickle ball with their adults and friends.

At the end of the day, everyone left with a custom medal as well as a gold medal. This activity built muscles and confidence.

Teaching our youngest learners team building skills is so important at this age, because it's a skill that will stay with them all their lives.

The teaching team and I are looking forward to using these materials and sporting equipment this upcoming school year. Thank you for everything.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Karen

  • Art and Nature

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

Thank you for supporting Art and Nature. This project allowed the students and teachers to slow down and enjoy the calmness of an outdoor space that is rarely used. This project not only incorporated art, but also science and engineering.

Students painted with large plastic fern leafs. Used the sun light to create images on a special paper and used wooden blocks to build towers.

Students worked quietly on their own as they did not want to make loud noises that would scare real birds and the stuff animal birds. Our take away for this project is that art is everywhere and we need only to open our eyes and see the beauty that is all around us.”

  • Welcome To Our Campsite

    Funded Apr 24, 2024

Thank you for helping us bring a camping experience into our classroom. Some of the students from the city may never have a chance to experience an actual camp outing. This project brought life into our classroom. The students pretended to cook out and make s'more. They played flash light tag and read books in tents.

The camping activity lasted all morning. A few parents watched in amazement as their child interacted with camping equipment. This activity not only sparked creative play, it also opened us up to new experiences.

    Thank You”

  • Superheroes in Training

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

Thank you for supporting SUPERHEROS in Training. This project helped us improve our fine motor skills by using our hand eye coordination to create super hero masks.

We improved our cognitive skills by matching super hero pictures to super hero illustrations in a books. We also matched and compared sizes.

Superheros in Training allowed us to embrace our super minds and our kindness skills. Allowing us to become the best versions of ourselves while building our self esteem and helping us to be kinder human beings.

    Thank you for”

  • Learning Is Messy

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you for your donations to Learning is Messy. I believe, that children and adults (smile) learn best when there are hands on experiences. The pictures I have shared are from an extended project around a book titled " Mix it Up".

This project allowed the students to mix primary colors to create new paint colors. The students were happy to be able to mix paint colors with their fingers.

Thank you for the opportunity to present my students with a hands on learning experience. Learning can be messy, fun and meaningful. Thank you for seeing the vaule in this process.”

Science allows for exploration and exploration allows for great hands-on learning opportunities. Learning through the senses is a great tool for eager learners. Sensory activities allow children to explore through their hands and fingers. Different textures allow children to open their minds and ask questions about what they are seeing, feeling, and helps them determine what interest them. Children are better learners when they experience hands-on opportunities! I am requesting a variety of learning materials that can open minds and heighten senses. These materials will target the senses allowing children to: view plants and animals they have never seen before, use their hearing to identify sounds, and use their fingers to feel different textures.
