We will be learning and having fun while we read! I can't think of a better way to introduce a new topic than reading a book to my students. We will be using these books to learn about ocean habitats, rain forest habitats, ponds and wetlands habitats, arctic habitats, desert habitats, mammals, bird, reptiles, amphibians, insects, fish and authors like Dr. Seuss. They will be introduced to the topic we are learning about and then be able to reread the books for their own research. Books bring the topics to life for students when they are learning. In first grade we are learning to read and reading to learn!
