Funded Sep 29, 2023Thank you so very much for your generosity and support in donating to our classroom. Since receiving the Whiteboard Stand for Interactive Learning, this resource is in use all day, every day, with multiple groups of students who come to my classroom for small group ESL and reading intervention instruction. This stand not only allows us to utilize the whiteboard portion (which is also magnetic), but also gives me the ability to project lesson slides and interactive tools such as a digital blending board and word work mat for our daily reading lessons.
My students and I are forever grateful to you!”

S.P.I.R.E. Inspires Readers!
Funded Apr 18, 2023I use the S.P.I.R.E. reading program daily with groups of second and third graders with various learning difficulties. It is a structured, systematic and explicit phonics intervention program designed for at risk readers, and I have seen great success with it.
I am proud that my groups of third graders progressed to S.P.I.R.E. Level 4! The purchase of the Level 4 materials made it possible for their success to be immediate and seamless.
The students love using these materials and are always excited when we get to add a new magnet for a concept we are working on. We are very grateful for your donation to support these students and make every child a READER!”

Funded Sep 20, 2022Students with learning, attentional, and/or emotional difficulties can have struggles throughout the school day that go beyond academic challenges. In addition to needing intensive academic support, which often means a small group or one on one setting, they also benefit greatly from an environment that promotes positivity and calmness. Your generosity has made this small but important step possible in my classroom.
The students love to work in a room with lighting and music that signals that it is a place where they can relax and focus. I often get requests for certain lights or music that students enjoy and prefer, and it helps very much with motivation as well as a sense of respect and community.
We are so grateful for your support.”

Funded Sep 15, 2022I use the S.P.I.R.E. reading program daily with a group of third graders with various learning difficulties. It is a structured, systematic and explicit phonics intervention program designed for at risk readers, and I have seen great success with it.
The lesson plan format is 10 steps, and step 3 is called word building. In the past I used printed letters that I would have to cut apart and give to the students. This proved to be difficult to manage as the letters would often get lost, rip, etc. When I was able to purchase these magnetic letter boards for the students, it made our lessons so much more organized and effective.
The students love using the boards and are always excited when we get to add a new magnet for a concept we are working on. We are very grateful for your donation to support these students and make every child a READER!”

Funded Jan 17, 2022Your generosity has made such an impact in my classroom this year as we strive towards equitable literacy. The books you have helped us purchase are specifically designed for beginning readers who are learning "the code" to reading and spelling. These books give them important practice in reading stories that emphasize the specific phonics patterns that they have learned. In this way, students can be successful sounding out most of the words in the text and be able to comprehend what they are reading.
Our language is complex and research clearly shows that the alphabetic principle needs to be taught systematically and explicitly; this means that a. we teach phonics skills in a specific order (scope and sequence) and b. we TEACH students the code, we give them opportunities for guided practice, then we have them try the skill independently. Decodable books that target the skills students have been taught are essential for independent practice. They are the "training wheels" of literacy! We are so grateful that you were kind enough to support us in our quest to teach ALL students to read!”

Mix It Up!
Funded Dec 11, 2020Thank you once again for funding my project, which provided our class with a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card. TPT is an online platform that was created by teachers to exchange instructional materials and access easy-to-use digital tools.
Some of the resources I have been able to purchase this year using the gift card include:
-interactive notebook, slides and worksheets related to plants and pollination
-materials to enhance our unit on fables, folktales and fairy tales
-extra practice for phonics units of study
-review materials for math
These resources have been invaluable this year, particularly because students were able to access them digitally as well as in hard copies. This was essential for remote, hybrid and full in-person learning.
Your generosity is much appreciated!”

Hands-on Learning!
Funded Aug 22, 2020The magnetic letters have been so wonderful for conducting small group reading lessons. Working with letters and words hands-on is important for emerging readers. They also work great with our large magnetic whiteboards.
When I first submitted this project, we had no idea what our teaching model would be: in person, virtual, or a combination of both. I knew that we needed to prepare for any scenario, and these materials provided some reassurance that students could learn at home and/or at school. When we had our students and parents pick up their bags at school they were so excited and amazed at what we were able to give them!
We are fully remote right now, and we are unsure if/when we will return in-person to the classroom. However, there is no doubt that these resources will continue to be used often, regardless of where we do it. Thanks to all of you!”

Learning Everywhere!
Funded Aug 11, 2020The materials that we were able to provide for our students through this project, Learning Everywhere, have been absolutely essential in providing a high-quality remote learning experience. The students use these materials every single day for our lessons as well as for independent work. The large whiteboards, in particular, have been phenomenal for showing student work clearly! They are also magnetic, so we can use magnetic letters on them for small group reading lessons.
