Classroom Rug for Circle Time

My students loved the rug. We used it several times each day as a group for morning meetings, read aloud, and for part of our reading lesson. During small group time and when they were working with partners they would always want to be on the rug.
The day it arrived and the custodian put it out for us the children were so excited. The funniest thing was when they came in the next morning and saw it. They were beyond thrilled that it was still there. I guess they thought it was only for us to borrow!
The rug has helped "soften" my classroom and make it feel like home.”

Phonemic awareness and letter recognition are two of the basic foundations of reading. The materials I have requested will provide the children with ABC books that will be read aloud to either the entire class or to small groups of students. The games and activities will be used within our literacy centers to supplement our core reading program. There are also some games that will be sent home with the students to play with their families. These resources will help provide the additional support these students need to build a strong literacy foundation!
