This project, when funded will allow my students the opportunity to explore the experiences of people of Southern Sudan during and after the Second Sudanese Civil War. They will analyze and contrast the points of view of the two central characters, Salva and Nya and their associated tribes. This will allow my students the opportunity to understand what it means to be a refugee. In a time when countries around the world are collapsing, leaving an untold number of people without homes, resources, and few options, I would like for my students to understand and appreciate what it is like for the refugee, as well as understand, the responsibilities that accompany being a citizen of the world.
