Math is everywhere and learning will happen anywhere! We know that students learn better when they have hands on materials and teachers to guide their learning. But this year students are facing many challenges. Our greatest obstacle is helping students continue to learn even during remote learning times or A/B rotational days. In order to meet and conquer this challenge, students need at-home math toolkits with all of the materials and resources that they are familiar with using in the classroom. With at-home math toolkits I will be able to instruct students virtually or in person. I will be creating individual sets of math tools we use in our third grade classroom. Students will be able to identify and independently select the appropriate tool for their learning--whether it be square tiles for making a multiplication array or a mini clock to solve a real world elapsed time problem. With these math toolkits the students will have everything they need to continue learning, whether they are in class or at home, in an engaging and purposeful manner.
