Our classroom currently only has 3 iPads to share between 12 students, which often becomes tricky rotating and keeping the students' needs met. Adding a few more iPads will allow more access for these students to meet their academic needs. Many of my students have IEPs that require speech to text options for writing, as well as books with a read aloud option. It's often a struggle for students to grasp thoughts when it comes to writing stories when they sit down with a notebook and pencil. However when we've given them the opportunity to use the iPads to do their writing, it has proven to lessen the stress of physically writing it out and opens up their minds to more thoughts and allowing them to type with an open mind. This comes in especially handy with helping them too when struggling to spell. Sounding out the word and typing a few letters in it the iPad will then display some of the words that might be what the student is typing, again lessening the stress burden that physically writing out a story has on these students. We've also found that students connect more with electronic math.
