Third graders learn how cultural factors shape a community and how the geography of place helps people decide where to settle. They also learn about fractions, geometric shapes and place value. Manipulative materials for geography and mathematical concepts help students develop an understanding for the subject through hands on experiences. I have chosen magnetic manipulatives that will help students develop skills in geometry, fractions and place value. The other items will help the students lean about landforms and their characteristics. The final item is a circular world puzzle with children from diverse cultures placed near their countries on a map.
