The vacuums and Lysol wipes, will help our students learn healthy habits to carry over to their home life. These life skills will also help the students learn to be as independent as possible and not rely on caregivers support for all of their daily needs. Ensuring our students are as independent as possible helps build their self efficacy, self esteem, and ability to interact in the community to the maximum of their ability. These all play vital roles as the student will eventually leave the structured support of the school system and become independent members of the community. Beginning the supported training in the life skills now, in elementary school, allows ample time for all of the students to reach their highest level of independence in these skills before graduating.
