Funded Jan 3, 2020The students are loving this donation. My students are enjoying the building and programming of the robots. Working in small groups they are able to work on collaboration. This is huge at this school where students routinely disagree with each other. I am really pleased to watch the students work together to find the correct pieces, put them together, and help each other write the code (directions) to make the project work.
I truly got a kick out of watching the excited looks the students gave me when I pulled out the robot sets. Since I teach multiple classroom, both regular and special ed, I am able to reach a larger selection of students. This means I was able to witness the joy 6 times. It never got old the kids have never been more quiet and willing to receive instructions. No one said they did not want to be in a group. It ran so smooth in a few of my classes I was tempted to pinch myself.
This project was very engaging to the children. We have only started with our exploration. Next we are going to teach one of the models. The students will build robots with a trailer and then test to see which wheels/surface allows for the most blocks to be transported. I can not wait to hear their guesses and see the outcomes. This really brings science and math as a concrete skill, with Legos. :)”
With gratitude,
