Our Language Acquisition Journey!
Funded Jan 13, 2025Thank you so much for your generosity! Your support has made a real difference in our classroom, and I wanted to share just how much we appreciate it.
When my students first saw the new phonics materials, they were so excited to dive in! We've been using them to strengthen reading skills, and it's amazing to see their confidence grow as they sound out new words. One student even said, "I love these! Reading is getting easier for me!" It's heartwarming to witness their progress and enthusiasm.
The paper towels and air fresheners might not seem like the most exciting items, but they have been lifesavers in keeping our classroom clean and fresh—creating a more comfortable learning environment for everyone. And of course, the chips were a huge hit! They've been the perfect little reward for hard work and participation.
Looking ahead, we will continue using the phonics materials to build strong literacy foundations, and I can't wait to see my students' reading skills flourish even more. Thank you for being a part of our learning journey—your kindness and generosity mean so much to us!”

Up, Up, and Away to a Fantastic School Year!
Funded Nov 27, 2023Thank you so much for your generousity towards my students!! We are now able to create shared writing and work on various kinds of assignments. The snacks like the chips and popcorn gets my students through rough and mundane days. Sometimes they just need a boost to get through the day. Many students do come in tired and exhausted so just having the necessary supplies and snacks it helps them complete their assignments.
I cannot thank you enough for your time and consideration towards my class and school community!”

Funded Sep 29, 2022With your generous gifts of resources, my students are so excited to delve into sentence creation! Sentence building is the top resource that we use every day because through play they are able to create grammatically sound sentences. The illustrated Spanish-English dictionary makes work much more independent and autonomous now because they see the value in searching up the Spanish cognate and vice versa. Having such autonomy leads to a much more happier and student-centered classroom. The charts and resources that I have gathered make my classroom a welcoming and print-rich environment where students can complete their assignments by looking at anchor charts around the room. It is such a great feeling knowing that I am able to provide them with such resources to aid in their English learning.”

Funded Aug 23, 2021Thank you for all your help in making our classroom a neat, tidy, safe, and nurturing classroom environment. Students are eager to keep up after themselves and wipe down their desks before and after lunch. The tissues especially now during the winter season are so helpful and lead to less sticky situations. My students were so thankful that strangers cared about our classroom so much! We made gingerbread houses and used Kleenex and disinfectant spray to sanitize afterward. We have used it so much we have nearly finished both disinfectant bottles! I am so happy to see my students feeling safe in school. Among the photos, there is a photo of a boy that especially wanted me to share his gingerbread house with you all. We use the diversity prompt cards as part of our Social-Emotional Checkin every morning. It is a good way to start off the day with gratitude. We use the vocabulary cards as part of our stations/centers. The individual opportunity for growth is tremendous.”

Funded Nov 13, 2019I cannot express my gratitude enough about being so generous to donate to my classroom and to my students. Being a low-income school, it is important that we appreciate and take the best advantage of all the resources we can get our hands-on. My students have been loving the pencils and printer. I cannot tell you how many pencils my students go through because they are passionate writers and readers. They make me want to read actually!
We are beginning our colonial times unit and the printer especially have come into great use for more hands-on differentiated learning.
I have a printer captain now who is responsible for keeping the printer happy (putting paper inside the tray) and also retrieving it after it is done printing. I think a printer is a necessity in everyone's classroom. Thank you once again!”

Funded Feb 15, 2019Ned and Noreen Zimmerman, thank you so much for funding my project! I was in desperate need of paper, pencils, and cushions for my students. I teach an ELL population in the northern section of the Bronx, NY and resources are very limited. My students need a lot of visuals and hard copy information and I have been able to provide that for them using the paper I received as part of my project. I no longer have to scramble for paper and worry if they will adequately understand the topic or not. We use the sharpener and cushions on a daily basis. My students are so excited to use these resources and my star 6 students every day uses the cushions. The same 6 students cannot go on the cushion for the remainder of the week--just to ensure everyone gets a chance to use the cushion and complete their task on it. For some of my students, I put assignments onto Google classroom where they are able to read Newsela or Reading A-Z articles/books whereas, others have hard copy books/articles/information. I have differentiated in such a way that they are being given the resource or scaffold that is right for them.
When my students first saw the two huge boxes they were overjoyed because I had told them that we had a special package coming in. They kept asking me "is that the sharpener? is that our pillows?". We went through the two boxes and said our class thank you's and also talked about as a class what we would like to write in our thank you letters. Thoughts were shared, ideas were talked about and then I explained how the rotation of the cushions would go. We also use the electric sharpener multiple times a day and they are very careful with it now and if I am not looking, they are sure to warn each other to take care of it. We don't waste so much time anymore sharpening pencils with a handheld sharpener. Currently, we are working on our opinion essays --some on notebooks and some on google docs via google classroom.
Last but not least thank you, thank you, and thank you for everyone in my class and especially myself!!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Muniya
