Phonics Games and Flip Books!
Funded Jul 6, 2023Thank you for your donation towards my project "Phonics Games and Flip Books!"
My students enjoy using the Flip Books to create their own stories for homework. They enjoy the surprise of randomly flipping through the pages of the booklet to select a setting, a character, and a plot description to create a silly story. Doing this type of writing is fun and engaging for the students. They look forward to writing everyday.
My students used the black folders to organize their writing. We glued two folders together to create a four-pocket writing process folder. The interior pockets were labeled as follows: prewriting, drafting, revising and editing. Students also used the Astrobrights® Filler Paper to organize the different stages of the writing process. The folders and the filler paper helped students slow down and keep track of their writing.
My students also love the Take Home Pouches. They use it to carry their independent reading books to and from school. They also keep math and phonics fluency templates needed for independent practice at home..
Again, we appreciate your generosity and your support for our classroom.”

Funded Apr 12, 2023Thank you for your generosity.
The students appreciated every book that was ordered. The majority loved "I Wanna New Room" and "I Wanna Iguana". Both books were used as reference for when students wrote their opinion and persuasive paragraphs and essays.
Students also enjoyed using the "Children's Illustrated Thesaurus" to look up overused words such as 'said', 'like' and 'good.' By using the illustrated thesaurus, students were able to expand their vocabulary and improve their writing.
Another favorite was 'Hey, Little Ant.' After reading the text, students were asked to choose the character they sympathized with. They then participated in a friendly debate, in which they used evidence from text to support their argument. Students enjoyed the activity because they learned about respecting the perspective of others, and they also learned about teamwork.
Thank you for providing my students with wonderful books.”

Interactive Math and Phonics Lessons
Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you for your donation.
The Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards were used to purchase a math vocabulary word wall, and a sound wall.
The first purchase from Teachers Pay Teachers was a 'sound wall.' Students referred to the sounds/phonemes and letters/letter combinations to help them develop their language skills. They loved the visual articulation mouth cards, as it helped them with positioning their lips to articulate words. Students were also intrigued by the spelling of words that contained a 'long a,' 'long e,' or 'long i' sound.
The second purchase from Teachers Pay Teachers was a math vocabulary word wall. Students used this word wall to develop and reinforce math vocabulary for each unit covered in our math curriculum. Students were not intimidated by topics such as fractions, multiplication, division and measurement. The word wall was (and continues to be) an excellent resource that provides students with visual representations of math vocabulary.

Funded Sep 20, 2023Thank you for supporting my math project!! The Marvelous Mathematicians are excited to get their hands on the new math materials.
Some students are looking forward to using the measuring cups and measuring spoons to deepen their understanding of unit fraction and equivalent fractions. They already mentioned that they’ll use the spoons and cups to practice cooking and baking. What a great example of using real-world examples in math.
Again, thank you for supporting my class and our project.”

Funded Apr 14, 2023Thank you for supporting my class.
My students were excited to hear that they would receive a set of Legos. They loved the different colors and different sizes, and they enjoyed the ability to just play and build with the Legos.
My students were amazed that they could use Legos to explore multiplication. Individually and in partnerships, the students built different types of array models and did quite well with understanding this new way to explore multiplication. They were able to identify rows and columns and produce a variety of multiplication equations.
Students also loved using the GeoStix to create and learn about the properties and attributes of 2-dimensional shapes. They loved using the protractors to measure the angles of triangles and trapezoids.
Thank you for providing materials for my amazing students. We greatly appreciate your generosity.”

Books For Our Classroom Library
Funded Mar 30, 2023Thank you for the wonderful books. They certainly added some life and color to our classroom library.
My students thoroughly enjoyed the Jory John's 'food group' book series. They were excited to take the books home to read by themselves and/or with their guardians.
Just recently, I had the pleasure of observing one of my students facilitate a read-aloud session with her classmates. Using the 'Dragons Love Tacos' book, the student asked her classmates questions about the characters. I felt so proud watching all of the students' interaction with one another. They gave each other positive feedback, and respectfully agreed and disagreed with each other.
Thank you, again, for improving the reading selection in our classroom library.”

Funded May 24, 2023Thank you for your donation, and thank you for providing materials to reduce the dreaded "summer slide." Initially, some of the students groaned when they saw the Summer Bridge activity books. However, when they browsed through the books and noticed the fun activities(especially the physical education tasks), the students turned their frowns into smiles.
All of the students are thankful for the materials, and they are looking forward to using them during the summer break. One of the activities they're looking forward to is practicing their multiplication facts in the mini composition notebooks. Some of the students are visual learners, so having a notebook with pictorial representations could help the students master their multiplication facts.
Again, thank you for supporting my students.
And, thank you for your generosity.”

Funded Nov 4, 2019Thank you for supporting my class. The students loved all of their new classroom supplies.
The students enjoyed using the dry erase markers. They drew their mathematical thinking on their personal white boards or on their desks. They were able to illustrate their understanding of proper fractions, multiplication and division, and share their findings with a partner.
Students also appreciated the buddy bags. They used it to safely transport their reading books to and from school everyday.
The red apple timer was helpful because it helped the students transition from one activity to the next. Plus, they liked the sound the timer made when it rang.
Again, thank you for supporting us.”

Hooray, Hooray! iPads to Save the Day!
Funded Nov 15, 2022Thank you very much for supporting my project. Because of the additional iPads, students have been able to complete their required iReady math and ELA lessons each week. Students have also been able to complete their daily reading assignments on myOn and Epic books. I am happy to say that I've noticed an improvement in my students' writing, and this is due to their reading everyday.
Students have also been able to use the iPads to conduct research for their informational writing project. They read e-books and magazines and watched videos about topics they felt passionate about. Most students used the traditional paper and pencil to compile their research. However, a few students opted to use the iPads to create slideshows.
We are very thankful for the additional technology, and we will continue to use the iPads daily.”

Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you for your generous donation.
Our color printer has been instrumental for our writers' notebook. We were able to print color images of our family, pets, and foods that we love. We were also able to print color pictures of places we have visited and places we would like to visit in the near future. Because of the visual aspect of the writers' notebooks, students were able to easily refer back to images to help elicit ideas for narrative, opinion and free-writing tasks.
We also used the color printer for printing math task cards for use during math centers. The colorful illustrations have helped students with solidifying their understanding of multiplication
Again, thank you for your generosity.”
