  • The Great Supply Shortage

    Funded May 2, 2022

    Thank you so much for the school supply donations. Our students were able to come in on the first day of school to a pencil box filled with pencils, a glue stick, a pair of scissors, fun erasers, individual pencil sharpeners, highlighters, crayons, colored pencils, and dry erase markers.

    The students also were ecstatic to see book bins with books for them to read during center time. They were able to decorate their bins however they wanted and many students said it was their favorite activity of the first day.

  • Read All About It!

    My students have been greatly impacted by the reading materials donated to our classroom. The students have been using highlighting tape for determining tricky words in books. The decodable books have given students who are working on sounding out and blending words the confidence that they can, indeed, read real books.

    When my students first saw all of the materials we would use in small group instruction, they cheered out loud. They have worked so hard to maintain the materials in the best condition they possibly can because they have loved working with the new books and materials.

    We will continue to "step up" to the next book levels, while teaching explicit phonological and phonemic awareness strategies. Thank you very, very much for helping to install the love of reading and learning into our students.”

    Thank you so much for the donations to our classroom. Shortly after you filled the donations, our students returned to full virtual learning. With your donations, I was able to provide each student with supplies to allow them to learn from home or a learning center.

    The students were able to complete assignments using their crayons, protectors, pencil boxes, and more. Otherwise, the students may not have been able to continue hands-on learning.

My students learn through play. They enjoy time to think, create, and explore on their own. These sensory bins and exploration tubs will allow my students to start off their academic day softly. Instead of morning work, my class will explore and create through different play options. The bins will include sensory items like play dough, academic items like alphabet mats to build on, art projects like pompoms, and creative play, such as building sets. I believe it will be the perfect thing to set them up for a successful day! They will have so much fun with these bins!
