Double duty! These high-interest illustrated biographies will serve a dual purpose. First and foremost, they will enhance the print-rich classroom that we have strived to create. They are excellent examples of quality children's literature that will be used in a small group instructional setting as well as in lending capacity. Titles were chosen with our students' interests, ability levels, and demographics in mind. More importantly, however, these books have been chosen specifically to enhance leadership within our class. As students read these biographies, they will be exposed to the qualities all leaders share. By reading real-world examples, our students will begin to realize the importance of perseverance, inner strength, and passion. We want them to realize that success is not instantaneous but rather something that can be attained with hard work and determination. Our hope is that each student will begin to internalize these qualities, persevere through failures, and develop a strong ethic.
