This classroom is most of our children's first time experiencing school. Thus, most of their learning comes through hands-on experiences. Light tables are beneficial to their education through may different ways. For example, with science, the lights shining through a leaf helps children observe the veins and it's growth. For writing, they could use letters to spell their name or write letters out in sand, paint, or shaving cream. For literacy, the children could read a story on the light table. For music, we could create different sounds using glasses with different amounts of colored water. For math, the children can use colorful counters to sort, make patterns, or count. For manipulatives, there are puzzles for the light table and tiles to build with. For children with special needs, it is calming for them and they are drawn to the light which helps them to focus more. For example, a child might not want to write with a pencil but instead draw it in paint, sand, or salt with his or her finger. With this light table, the children will be able to increase all aspects of their learning and developmental growth.
