  • Art Supplies for Autistic Learners!

    Funded Feb 21, 2020

Thank you so much for the Art Supplies! It allows my students and myself the ability to let the books we read come to life in our classroom!

Our students have multiple comorbidites which prevent them from accessing the general education curriculum in the traditional way. As special education teachers, we strive to provide opportunities that may at times be untraditional to give our neurodivergent students the opportunity to accomplish at their levels while still pushing them to achieve meaningful work. Your donation made this possible! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Page

Thanks General Motors for the gift of our classroom learning lounge and math resources. My students have had the best time reading in their learning lounge and sharing special moments with their friends. It has increased their social and reading skills in my classroom, which is one step closer to achieving their functional goals for the school year. We are also in love with the math resources. It has allowed my students to have fun and engaging lessons while also mastering targeted goals. We really appreciate your donation and will continue to improve our skills.”

    With gratitude,

Children with autism often have trouble processing concrete ideas. The use of the math folder games would provide my students an opportunity to experience math with the visual support that they need to be successful. The learning lounge would provide the students a safe place to learn at their own pace and experience the independence of learning as every other student does. It is also very common for students with autism to need sensory relief, the sand/water table would provide my students an opportunity to relieve tension in an appropriate manner in the classroom. Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
