These materials will be used to teach and reinforce employability skills. The items on my list are common items we interact with at community jobsites. I plan to schedule classroom activities that will allow the students to practice the needed skill within the classroom setting. I plan to set up an "escape room" to make the learning and reinforcement of these skills fun! Students will have to complete a series of skills (folding towels, cleaning tables, folding pillow cases) in order to solve short mathematical puzzles to solve the escape room. The phone cases and playdoh will be used as props in the escape room which will hide numbers and keys needed to solve sections of the puzzle. The vacuum will be used to vacuum various areas in the classroom. Paper clippings and other items that can be vacuumed will be scattered to teach students how to vacuum and how to check for quality control after the task is completed. Vacuuming is an employability skill as well as a daily living skill that is needed for my students to be more independent in the workplace and home. Overall, the learning outcome for my students is to develop employability skills, specifically vacuuming and the skill of folding hand towels, bath towels, wash clothes, and pillow cases so when we are working in the community we are more efficient in our work.
