  • Understanding the Ukulele

    Funded Mar 31, 2020

I want to thank all the donors to the project, "Understanding the Ukulele." I know that when our students return to school in the fall of 2020, they will be excited to learn to play the ukulele. Since they have done so much remote learning, I think that they will enjoy playing a new musical instrument, "in person."

Our students are very enthusiastic about new projects. They have a great love of music and will benefit greatly from learning to play the ukulele.

Your generous donations support their great love of learning music.

I am also excited to teach my students to play an instrument that has not been taught yet in our school.

Thank again for your caring and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Block

  • Understanding The Ukulele

    Funded Jan 27, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to our project, "Understanding the Ukulele.

Students get great satisfaction from learning to play a musical instrument and singing along with it.

They take great pride in performing for other students, staff and their families.

This may be the only opportunity some students may receive to learn to play a musical instrument.

    Our students greatly appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Block

Students will learn to play a different instrument; the ukulele, I have, over the years, taught many of my students to play folk and rock guitar. They have practiced singing and accompanied themselves on the guitar. They were able to learn quickly by the use of tablature or diagrams of the instrument. They found that they acquired results quickly and successfully. I would like to increase this program, by teaching some of them an additional instrument, the ukulele. I think that it would add diversity and contrast to the guitar program. I would teach them the ukulele, also by the use of tablature or diagrams in order to accompany their singing.
