Tailored Literacy Learning
Funded Nov 24, 2019Being able to attend the national literacy conference has energized and created excitement for literacy learning. I have already been able to utilize my new learning into the classroom. It is amazing the motivation that comes by hearing from the experts that write the professional books that guide my teaching. Their personal all statements and examples are easy to implement and have been so effective. I am very thankful for the opportunity to attend and am hopeful that I will be able to attend next year as well.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and 2 other donors.Nuts and Bolts
Funded Jan 15, 2020We have already enjoyed learning to play the new math games and will be teaching all of our classmates. We love having fun while practicing our math skills.
The pencil sharpener and colorful writing tools allow us to add pizazz to our writing. The flexibility of having a quiet pencil sharpener helps us be prepared at any time of the day.
We are very thankful to have these items in our class to use daily. We were so excited to get them our right away. These pictures were taken within minutes of opening the boxes.”

Library Lounge
Funded Jan 2, 2020Our class is in love with the new books. Many have already started a new series and are happy that we have so many new choices. It definitely has created a stronger interest in reading.
We are also thrilled to have them so organized by series. It has made our library much more functional and the kids are able to find and put away books on their own. The buckets are very strong and the drawers keep things looking tidy.
We love the comfy pillows that help us spread out around the room. It feels like we are right at home enjoying a good book.
All of our purchases will last for many years to come.”

Characters Just Like Me!
Funded Nov 24, 2019It was like Christmas when the shipments of books started coming in. We had an opening party and the kids sorted all the books out. They were in awe of the number of new books they would have to read.
Some of the best moments have been when one of my students read a title and said "that's just like my hair" and another got to share a book about why she wears a Bindi.
In addition, the kids have enjoyed the series of books and can not wait to get a hold of the next book. The kids expressed to our librarian how awesome these new and diverse books are and want them in our school library as well.
Thank you for providing the opportunity for our kids to find similar characters within books.”

Hands-On Creativity With Teamwork
Funded Jan 26, 2019When the boxes starting arriving, the kids were overjoyed that people would be willing to surprise them with goodies. They knew that there would be exciting things inside to help them each morning start the day off in a fun way. However, they couldn't believe how many new things they would get to choose to work with using their creativity.
We spent the first few weeks learning how to take care of the activities and where we would keep them. Now, each morning the kids get to use the Squigz, Wooden Planks, Brain Flakes, and other tools to build. The favorites have been making flowers out of Brain Flakes and creating building from the MagForms.
Every day, the kids use the camp chairs to relax and read. They came up with a schedule that lets everyone share them to read comfortably throughout the week. It's been such a difference in the amount of time kids enjoy reading since they can get more cozy.
We all are filled with thankfulness when we use your gift. Thank you so much for your willingness to support us in building relationships with each other and have FUN!”
