  • We Can Read!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you for supporting our classroom updated library. The kids worked hard to determine which series of books were the most-loved, determined which books in the series we already had, and made the list of books to request. Because I'd your donation we were able to complete the series, but second copies, and get these books into the hands of these first-graders. They were so proud to see the boxes coming in from their efforts and started to enjoy them right away. Providing quality books can make a huge impact in their desire to read. It even Carrie's over to their summer reading. I have had parents tell me they have visited the local library and checked out these books too!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Decodable Reading

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Just last night I received a parent saying how great our new homework reading books have been for their child. The kids are excited each week to get their new folder to see what they will have to read. It has been so helpful in allowing them to practice reading using phonics skills and keep them going by providing new texts each week.

Thank you so much for supporting this project and letting our kids get their hands on books that are just right for them. The books are engaging, fun, and awesome decodable books.

    We love them!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Diverse Biographies

    Funded May 5, 2022

Thank you for the variety of diverse biographies. They are going to add so much to our biography study this year. Not only will kids have an opportunity to select books that include interesting people but they will be able to find a person that looks just like them.

We appreciate your kindness and generosity in helping support our earning through these high-interest and engaging texts that allow us to learn about so many different people. We can't wait to start this unit and begin our reading adventure.”

  • Odds and Ends

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

We are so grateful for these odds and ends that have been purchased for our classroom. We have been able to revamp our pencil sharpening routine now that we have multiple, usable sharpeners. It has improved our ability to be prepared each day.

We also enjoy playing the game Mouse Trap. It's a challenge to put it together which helps us grow our grit and work together. We also like to see the way simple machines are utilized to make something fun for us to do when we have indoor recess.

Thank you for your support in helping our classroom run more smoothly.”

  • Third Grade Move

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

Moving to a new grade level can be very challenging, especially when taking many of the same kids with you to your new grade. It has been so helpful to have these items to create an exciting environment for these kids.

I appreciate the support to get several items that allowed the kids to see a challenge in the classroom. It allowed the kids to see a change in the classroom so that they didn't feel they were repeating the same year.

Thank you so much for helping our class get these wonderful tools to make learning fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Math Gaming for Fun (While Learning)!

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our gaming practice for math. The kids loved getting a hold of new games that will improve their basic math facts in a fun and enjoyable way.

When I see kids engaged in a new math game and they are having so much fun they don't realize it's a math game, I smile. When they request to play these games during indoor recess, it is clear this is a win for all.

We appreciate site so much your support in allowing us to progress through such an awkward year by making such memories.

    Thank you so much.”

  • We Love Books We Can Read!

    Funded Oct 8, 2020

Thank you so much for your donation to help us purchase books that are at all levels of our classmates. We know that when we can pick up a good, engaging book that will hold our interest, we are getting the good practice needed to improve our reading.

We love that many of the books are part of a series that allows us to meet a character and continue a journey with one. This helps us keep interest and learn from someone that we can relate to and read about on our own.

While school looks so different this year, it is exciting to see these books in our book boxes knowing that they will be right there when we get back to in-person learning.

    Thanks again for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • What Did You Say?

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

With all of the changes to make our classrooms safe, these items have helped our classroom run smoothly. The voice projector helps us sound clear and loud despite wearing masks. It is especially helpful as we focus on letter sound relationships for those in the early stages of reading.

The plastic tubs help us stay organized with our morning warm up activities. They allow us to make choices and keep the items clean. Without them, we would not have as much flexibility in sharing the building tools we love so much.

    Thanks again for your support.”

    With gratitude,

  • Series Savvy

    Funded Mar 2, 2020

My kids are so thrilled to have these additions to our classroom library. We have been fortunate to be introduced to many new characters through these series. However, they were left with many cliffhangers as they didn't have the next books in the series. Because I'd your donation, my kids now get to continue the story and learn about the characters' continued journey.

Each day, the kids get time to read books of their choice. These have now become favorites. The kids are lining up to read and have created a hold system so that everyone gets a chance to read.”

  • Strategies in Action

    Funded Dec 30, 2019

Our team of second grade teachers have started the online PD course that was purchased. We have already seen the benefit of this learning. Jennifer Serravallo is an expert in our field and we know that we will learn so much from interacting with her lessons.

Our first session was very impactful, as it allowed us to have a focused conversation about our students, consider what we currently utilize, and areas that we need to seek improvement. Already, we have connected with others in our building that can help us because of this PD and the conversation it prompted.

We look forward to the upcoming sessions and all that we will learn to benefit many more students as we continue in this field.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

Each morning, we begin with a soft start to promote building relationships with our team and to prepare for the day. In order to accomplish the best mindset for learning, I’m requesting high-interest and engaging activities to provide for my kids. The Squigz, ShapeMags, Wooden Planks, Cogs Gears and Brain Flakes are just a few of the requested hands-on tools that will bring excitement to all second-graders in our class to work together to build and create. The strategy games help kids get their brains ready and allot for teamwork. These activities help kids strengthen their relationships with each other and build good communication skills. The kids will enjoy sitting in the cozy stadium seats and stools to work in groups, and help problem-solve while working together. By beginning our day with a positive, hands-on experience, the mood and mindset for learning will be achieved. Our team will be ready to work together, help one another, and reach academic goals each day. We are excited to have these items to broaden our experiences.
