Many of my students may lack a common amenity like internet access at home; however, adding a computer to the learning experience gives my students parity in today's technology-centered educational setting.
There are countless ways a classroom laptop may be of benefit to the students.
Within the scope of learning experiences, the hope is that the following will apply to all users: students will first submit a gesture of appreciation (in the form of letters, pictures, collaborated email, or something they student suggest) to donors and to all others who considered simply because we will be glad recipients; secondly, students will understand some of the general computer operations for individual, shared use, and the overall positive social and ethical implications surrounding use of this resource; additionally, students will become increasingly aware of what responsible use of systems and software entails; a fourth goal is that student users will be privy to appropriate electronic books, educational software, and interactive content for both directed and independent learning activities; lastly, students will transfer acquired knowledge and apply it where such resources (computers/laptops) are available to them. One laptop would provide a gateway to the World Wide Web; a place where eyes can be open and healthy imaginations can take course; research can be made according to students' curiosities and within bounds of instruction. Surely, my views on what one laptop can do seem grand; however, consider how it was initially highlighted that both students and staff have been able to take a little to accomplish a great deal.oi
