My students are grades K, 1, and 2. My school services K-6. When these students come to school they need to feel safe and secure within their learning environment so they can effectively take in new information and learn. Social and emotional learning is a big piece of the classroom puzzle. Students need these skills to develop a positive school culture, have appropriate interactions with peers, manage emotions (self-regulate), and problem solve. All of these skills will be carried with them for the rest of their lives. Flexible seating helps address sensory needs of many students. Each seating type provides a different type of input that a student is missing and craving. When students can not get this input, they may act out in other ways to receive it, such as with unwanted behaviors. These supplies will not only help grades K-2, but will be available to all of special education so that many students can benefit. Please consider donating and help make my classroom a well balanced, safe place to learn.
