Due to my students individualized needs, within IEPs and personal preferences, they all learn very differently. My students frequently like to move around the room and have a hard time sitting in one area for a long period of time. So I am transforming my classroom, and trying to add more flexible seating, adding more organization bins for the kiddos, as well as more school supplies that we have already run out of from the last 2 quarters projects!
The kids have all been frequently requesting for more seating options than what I currently have, which is 1 ball chair and 1 bean bag chair. This will give my students the flexibility to learn in a more engaging learning environment that also provides them with seating suited for their individual needs. Some of my students prefer siting on the floor, or on couches/bean bags with clip boards or side tables, instead of sitting in the traditional chair and desk.
Also, my classroom is on the inside of our building, meaning I have no windows within my classroom. So, I have much more wall space within my room and I wanted to be able to display a world map within my room to show my students where we are in relation to the countries we are discussing in class. Also, with having no windows, when we are working on the projector I can not turn off the lights due to it being to dark, even with the lamp I currently have. So string lights will be able to brighten up the classroom. Lastly, my students enjoy hands on projects that that can require many materials, which we have already run out of. This will help students stay engaged through doing hands on projects.
